Harry Potter Literature Pack: ESL & Creative Writing

$4.99

A familiar story. A new way to find your words.

Take your English practice beyond the final chapter. This Harry Potter literature pack brings together printable activities for exploring characters, collecting vocabulary, discussing ideas, and developing imaginative writing.

Learners can examine a character’s choices, design a magical object, invent a creature, or write an alternative ending. The activities invite personal responses rather than one fixed answer, giving readers room to explain, imagine, and support their ideas.

What’s included

One 17-page PDF containing 15 activity pages, a cover, and a usage information page.

Activities include:

• Character analysis using words, actions, thoughts, and evidence from a chosen scene.
• Vocabulary collection organized by movement, sounds, emotions, places, clothes, and colors.
• Book-cover and wand-design tasks.
• An illustrated response to an important story moment.
• A humorous transformation drawing and writing activity.
• Connections between fictional characters and people in real life.
• Advice-letter writing based on a character’s problem.
• Printable story-cube templates for short creative writing.
• A character remembrance poem and epitaph.
• An invented magical textbook entry.
• A journey-planning activity involving destinations, timing, and obstacles.
• A magical-creature and habitat design task.
• A house-sorting personality quiz.
• An alternative-ending dialogue activity.

Choose a scene. Explore an idea.

Use the worksheets alongside a Harry Potter book your learner is reading or has already read. Many tasks let you select a character, scene, or story moment, so you can choose activities that connect with the reading.

These are flexible literature-response activities, rather than chapter-by-chapter comprehension questions or a complete reading curriculum.

Language level and support

The pack is designed for A2–B2 English learners. Activities vary in complexity: some focus on drawing and short descriptions, while others ask for analysis, extended writing, or interpretation.

For A2 learners, introduce unfamiliar vocabulary, model a short response, and break longer instructions into steps. More confident learners can develop their explanations and support ideas with evidence from their reading.

A little preparation

You’ll need access to the relevant Harry Potter book, printed worksheets, and writing materials. Coloring supplies are optional for drawing tasks. Scissors and glue or tape are needed to assemble the story cubes.

Select activities with the reader’s interests and comfort in mind. Some prompts explore conflict, fears, or the remembrance of a deceased character.

Format and download

You’ll receive an English-language PDF in A4 portrait format: 21 × 29.7 cm. If printing on US Letter paper, select “Fit” and check the preview.

This purchase contains the companion activity PDF. Harry Potter books, films, and audiobooks are not included. It is not an official Harry Potter publication.

After payment is confirmed, your download link will be sent by email. The link allows one download, so save the PDF to your device before printing.

No physical workbook or materials will be shipped.

As both a middle school English teacher and a massive Harry Potter fan, I am completely in love with this pack! Using the 'Sorting Hat', 'Pensieve', and 'Riddikulus' concepts to teach literature analysis is absolute genius. My students were more engaged in this reading unit than anything else all year. Ten points to Gryffindor for this masterpiece!

Domi

The illustrations and thematic references to the books are adorable. However, as an ESL instructor, I found that a few activity pages pack a bit too much text and boxes onto a single sheet, which can overwhelm students with lower reading levels. Still, a very creative and high quality digital download.

Miriam

You can tell the creator is a genuine fan of the series. Including elements like the Marauder's Map, the Mirror of Erised, and even writing an epitaph for Dobby shows real attention to detail. My students geeked out over the authentic wizarding vocabulary.

Dave

A wonderful resource to bring some magic into the classroom. The discussion prompts and character conflict analysis charts really push kids to think critically. Just make sure your students have actually read the books, as some references require true fan knowledge.

Ronald

My son is obsessed with Harry Potter and he actually asked to do 'homework' because of this workbook. Designing his own Hogwarts textbook page and crafting his Boggart fear brought out so much creativity. Worth every penny!

Desire

The activities are super engaging and imaginative, especially the Daily Prophet writing task. Just keep in mind that because of the gorgeous thematic borders and illustrations, printing the whole packet uses quite a bit of black ink. Printing select pages is definitely the way to go!

Regina

If you have a kid who loves the wizarding world but drags their feet at writing prompts, this is your magic potion. Activities like the micro mystery maker and accio vocabulary turn boring grammar work into a fun game. Highly recommend for any young fan

Laura

We used this during our summer homeschooling routine, and my 10 year old daughter who knows the books by heart had an absolute blast designing her own wand and writing alternative endings. We just wish there were more chapters to get through because we finished it too fast!
